Sue and Holly Barber specialise in Classical Equitation and Working Equitation. Sue Barber has worked in the industry for over 43 years being one of the countries most experienced instructors. Her track record speaks for itself. Having produced numerous well known teachers trainers and horses during this time.. Many students and pupils of which have gone on to make successful careers of their own. Teaching, training, competing and representing GB. The Famous Pine Lodge was started in 1988 by Sue Barber. Before this time, Sue worked in the industry running schools, training and working as a freelance. She maintains she was lucky enough to work and train with several universally respected Riders and Trainers herself. The Kudos of Pine Lodge stands on it’s own.

Holly Barber, Mick and Sue Barbers daughter is the most experienced riding member of the Working Equitation Team in the UK. Having been on the British Team since 2003. Holly has worked and trained extensively in the UK and abroad. Well respected amongst her peers. Holly has spent her entire life training and working with her family at Pine Lodge. At present, she can be seen training and competing the 2012 Lusitano Champion Bombastico, owned by Mrs. J. Fernandez. Holly can be seen schooling young and older horses alike, teaching, competing extensively and very successfully on the Pine Lodge fb page.

I have two purebred lusitanos of my own,I work at Pakefield Lusitanos where there are currently 10 horses in training. Where I train them or give lessons on them.I ve backed two purebred lusitanos imported from Portugal gold medal winners.and they are competing this year under saddle.In 2014 we have Eros a dun purebred lusitano gold medal winner stallion coming over to us.I am happy to freelance on your horses. Janine Pendlebury Lee and her team train riders and horses from the most novice level up to and including high school and having the largest number of advanced schoolmasters in the UK there are horses here for all abilities. The yard specialises in high school dressage training and commonly clients’ own horses are developed here in conjunction with the their own improvement. The school horses are of Iberian type, mostly Lusitano or Spanish, but some part-breds and non-Iberian horses have been in for training with their owners including Friesian, thoroughbred, warmblood, Lippizaner, etc.

Janine trained in Portugal with maestro Luis Valença and more recently with Olympic rider Miguel Ralão and she holds clinics and lecture-demonstrations throughout the UK and together with her staff regularly exhibit their horses with the Pen Llyn Quadrille.

Longer term clients work with Janine on both an irregular and intensive basis and specialised training programmes are a regular feature of the teaching and progression of horse and rider. Numerous clients have more than horse with Janine and have done so for many years and when required horses are located from Portugal or home-bred and produced as clients require.

Paulo Santos

Based in Chichester, West Sussex.
Available for individual lessons and clinics at home and through out the UK.

Paulo has competed internationally for Portugal at both Grand Prix level dressage and as part of the Portuguese Working Equitation team. Coming from a classically trained background, he spent 5 years learning and working with the world renowned classical master, Luis Valenca. Paulo then moved in to competitive dressage and trained with many great names, including 4 years with Finish Olympic rider Kyra Kyrklund. Since then Paulo has gone on to teach riders in both Dressage and Working Equitation, he currently trains one of the Portuguese Junior team riders and is also the official trainer for the British Working Equitation Development Squad and team.

Sylvia Loch

Britain’s only Portuguese certified instructor, (accreditation by the Portuguese National Federation and the School of Equestrian Art) has been teaching classical dressage for over 40 years. She gives one to one lesson on her own school master Lusitano Prazer, or on pupil’s own horse. She specialises in the correct use of Seat and Aids, and her speciality is bringing on novice/elementary horses to advanced levels.
