Registration of Lusitano and part-bred Lusitano horses

The Lusitano Breed Society of Great Britain holds registers for purebred Lusitano and part-bred Lusitano horses in Great Britain. The Society takes its authority from the APSL in Portugal, and is responsible for registering all purebred horses born in or imported into the UK in the APSL official Stud Book.

Enquiries by email to the Studbook Secretary, whose details are set out here

The APSL Stud Book

This is in two parts:

Young stock produced from graded parents which are in the Book of Adults are eligible to enter the Book of Births.

Young stock produced from parents who are only in the Book of Births, i.e. parent/s which have not yet been graded or have not passed into the Book of Adults, will not be issued registration papers until the parent(s) have passed their grading. All documentation for the registration of their young stock should however still be submitted to the Studbook Secretary; papers will then be issued once both parents have entered into the Book of Adults.

How do I register my horse?

Part breds

In order to be eligible for registration as a part-bred Lusitano, the horse must be 50% Lusitano, from at least one graded parent.  Covering Certificates should be completed, submitted and returned to the Studbook Secretary as for purebred horses.
