In Retirement

Relento Retires

“Relento”

“Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light”

That’s how we introduced Relento. We were so honoured that Somerset trainer Fiona Price-Jones chose the South West Iberian Show for his final performance. He could only do a little, but even in these late years this is a horse that will not go gently and just loves to piaffe. He brought the house to tears as he strutted his stuff to David Bowie’s Heroes, then his saddle was removed whilst compere Michaela Richards spoke about his fabulous career. As the first Lusitano to represent GB internationally at dressage, this is a special horse.
Relento was also notably a Champion of Champions at the prestigious Lusitano Breed Show, the only time a gelding has ever won the title, but this is a horse of incredible quality and presence (he is by Luxo, a son of Xaquiro, out of Liverpool, a Coca daughter).
Thank you again Fiona, and we wish this special boy a happy retirement …
